One Law Can Save Millions of Lives
One Law can Save Millions of Lives
One hundred and twenty-five thousand children are aborted every day. How can we accept this? We live in a world that creates laws against murderers and promises rights for every human. However, when it is more convenient for the carrier, these rules are set aside and a child’s rights are a small price to pay. We allow this to happen as medical professionals dehumanise the baby by calling them a tissue or fetus so that somehow, killing them will be morally okay. Abortion should not be tolerated because of the mother’s rights, abortion is justifying children’s deaths for reasons not equivalent to a human life, what people need to understand is that abortion is murder.

Our country believes that being forced to carry a child is infringing on a women’s rights because it is her body holding the child and therefore, it is her choice on whether or not to take care of the baby. Still, abortion is the killing of a helpless baby and is neglecting the rights and freedoms of the child. In Section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, everyone has the privilege to live. Who then, is considered to be everyone? For example, If someone murders a 4-year-old, it is seen as nauseating and immoral, but when it comes to killing an unborn child, it is looked over when it is more favourable for others. Being allowed to live is not a privilege, but a right. Aborting a baby is excluding them from the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Section 15 of the Charter states: Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability. By disregarding a child’s rights because of their age, you are going against the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Even though this is contradicting Canadian laws, we are giving someone the right to kill another human. No one should have the right to murder a child and this should not be accepted so easily by the world. A child has its own body and its own heart; a mother does not have two hearts, two heads, or two legs. The child is not an extension of a woman’s body; it is it’s own person. Abortion should be a illegalized because it is a blatant rejection of the laws and rules put into place to stop injustices.

Some of the reasons for abortion is unacceptable especially with 1.5 million American families waiting to adopt. Families who many not be able to have a child for themselves are waiting for years to have their own son or daughter. Instead of putting an unwanted child up for adoption, people are going as far as killing a child because of its gender. The life of an unborn born child is being dictated by if they’re a girl or a boy. Children are wanted and families are waiting for them, so then there should be no reason for ending their life. Based on these statistics why should mothers “feel that killing their children is a better option than choosing families for their children”. Then there is the argument if a girl is raped they should be able to terminate the pregnancy. This causes a lot of emotional distress and is very hard on the female but abortion is also clinically known to cause depression. How can we believe abortion to be ethical when a child dies for the mistakes of its father? A son does not get to chose his father and a daughter does not serve time for the crimes of her father. Although this is a horrible situation, a innocent child is now a part of this and has done nothing wrong. The injustice is not only in the offence made by the father but in the fact that the baby is paying for the crime. Also another reason for abortion is on the issue of disabilities. When a mother is told that the baby she carries is abnormal, immediately there is a lot of pressure to end the pregnancy. If the mother chooses to keep the child, the child can be very difficult to raise and many will think of them as a burden, but I believe these are humans. They can feel and contribute to our society. For example, doctors have told stories of how they have touched their lives with their
