An Understanding of the Nfc East offense in 2011
The world of professional football around the NFL gains constant attention every year. In the public, there are always conversations of who the best team is and how well a specific team will perform. Many times, this will lead into friendly wagers, office pools, sports betting, or just flat out bragging rights. When fans start to support specific teams, they many times look at various factors but will make a decision on the “better team” based on biased information or emotional thought. We can use statistics as a manner to view teams in a more non-biased manner in order to get an idea of how successful a team may be. Is it possible to see the performance of a team as it relates to their success in a season? Let’s take an example of how we can look at a specific division and see the outcome from a statistics standpoint.

When it comes to an NFL regular season, there are 16 total games during a regular season. During these 16 games, there are many stats that one can view to see the overall performance of a team. Let us take a look at the NFC East division which includes: New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins. A look at the 2011 data will allow us to come to a conclusion and then check how successful this conclusion is.

In order for a team to win a football game, said team must score more points than the opponent while on offense. So, we will look at each team’s offense and see how they perform from a running game stand point and a passing game stand point. Here is what the data will look like:
