MITCH ALBOM BIO
MITCH ALBOM, 47, is a best-selling author, nationally-syndicated newspaper columnist for the Detroit Free Press, nationally-syndicated radio host for ABC and flagship station WJR-AM in Detroit, and television commentator.

BOOKS
MITCH ALBOM is the author of eight books, including the New York Times bestseller “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”, and the phenomenal bestseller “Tuesdays With Morrie,”. Oprah Winfrey produced a major television movie for ABC based on “Tuesdays With Morrie” that aired in December 1999 and starred Jack Lemmon and Hank Azaria. A phenomenon in its own right, the movie was not only the most-watched on any network for that year, it also earned four Emmy Awards in 2000, including those for “Best Actor” (Lemmon) and “Best Supporting Actor” (Azaria). With more than five million copies now in print, “Tuesdays With Morrie” is also published in 34 countries, in 30 languages, and was a bestseller in Japan, Australia, Brazil, and England.

Alboms “Tuesdays With Morrie” story has been featured in many national publications, including People Magazine, Life Magazine, TV Guide, and Redbook. Albom has also been featured on several national television programs, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBCs Today Show, the CBS Early Show, Larry King Live, the Tom Snyder Show, and the Rosie ODonnell Show.

Alboms other books include “Live Albom I” (1987), “Live Albom II” (1990), “Live Albom III” (1992), “Live Albom IV” (1995), “BO,” the autobiography of Bo Schembechler (co-written with Schembechler and also a New York Times bestseller), and “Fab Five” the story of the University of Michigans famed mens basketball recruits who all became starters as freshmen during the early 1990s.

NEWSPAPER
For more than a decade, MITCH ALBOM has been named #1 Sports Columnist in the Nation by the sports editors of America (APSE), the highest honor in his field. He has also received seven first place APSE honors for feature writing. No other columnist has won the APSE award more than once.

During his storied career, Albom has received more than 100 writing awards from AP, UPI, Headliners Club, National Sportswriters and Broadcasters Associations, and others.

MITCH ALBOM hosts two radio talk shows. His broadcasts originate from ABC-owned flagship station WJR-AM in Detroit, a 50,000-watt station that reaches 38 states and much of Canada, and include:

“The Mitch Albom Show” which airs 5-7 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday, is now in its ninth year.
“The Monday Sports Albom,” a sports interview program, airs 7-8 p.m. Eastern time and is now in its nineteenth year. Past guests have included everyone from President Gerald Ford to Wayne Gretzky to Dennis Rodman.

TELEVISION
MITCH ALBOM is a panelist on ESPNs “Sports Reporters,” seen every Sunday by a nationwide audience, and hes also a regular contributing commentator to that network.

He has been profiled by ABC News, NBCs Today Show, the CBS Early Show, and ESPNs “Up Close.”
