Immigration
Immigration is an issue that has been dealt with for centuries in the United States. In the 1920s the United States tried to deal with immigration by passing an immigration act that banned all Asians from coming to the United States. Immigration is not good for the United States. Immigrants coming to the United States tend to take lower paying jobs, which in the long run takes jobs away from Americans.
For example, on April 19, 2006, Federal immigration authorities found nearly 1,000 illegal immigrants working for IFCO systems in four different states. Authorities checked a sample of 5,800 IFCO employee records and found that 47 percent had legal social security numbers. It was proven that the were using social security numbers of people that were dead, of children, or using social security numbers of people who did not work for IFCO. I believe that this type of behavior makes Americans look bad. Not only are immigrants taking our jobs they are taking our identities.
Second, Swift & Co. also hired more that 1,200 illegal immigrants across six different states. This operation was marketed as an identity theft crackdown. The illegal immigrants had stolen or bought social security numbers from lawful residents in order to get these jobs. It seems that our government is covering up for immigration in calling this a crackdown on identity theft. I think the reason why most companies hire immigrants is because they will do the work for less pay. This takes away from the jobs American could be getting and is willing to work.
Lastly, RCI Inc. allegedly hired illegal immigrants, paid them with cash, and never required proper identification or proper tax forms. According to federal authorities, the company executives collected $18.6 million in unpaid taxes. They used this money to buy luxury boats and vehicles, buy lavish homes, to purchase racehorses, to pay for their childrens
