Peter believes that they already had created jobs and fulfilled the companyâs obligations towards the community. According to the economic social responsibility of business managers simply pursue to earn profit within the law. Peter is oblivious of several points, first is that creating jobs and earning profits and paying taxes is not a favour to society, it is a business constituent to survive and sustain in the market. Second they do get protection and access to resources, so they do get return; therefore, it is not an economical favour but more of give and take, which is a win-win case.
Furthermore, considering the process of getting their input and creating an output affects stakeholders that makes them deeply obliged to give back. To illustrate, the impact of the Nido advertisement and using doctors to promote their product led to the raise of mortality and malnutrition in Africa and several countries. The animal abuse and poor welfare, the overconsumption of resources like water, oil, land and other natural resources, the overproduction, all affecting the ecosystem. All these examples and many others highlight a social responsibility towards the stakeholders that Peter denies. In one hand, least what corporations can do to alleviate the harm they create in the process of production and reduce the societies rage towards such actions is contributing more to the society in different forms not only monetary form. Such as integrative social responsibility; they can serve the environment. They can focus on going green by recycling. The company can invest in education and help in making more benefits by sponsoring researches, building schools for orphans or offering scholarships. Also since the company is producing diary products, they can support farmers to insure the animals welfare and this is a beneficial for both Nestle, farmers and consumers.
In Conclusion, environmental integrity and community is a mean to earn greater profits. Nestle has a social responsibility towards all stakeholders and contribute to the betterment of the stakeholders and the community not only the economy of a country.
Ans2: Social responsibility applies on both firms and consumers and without the contribution of both the action wouldnât be successful. For example, Nestle is obliged to highlight that baby milk is not a substitute to breast milk but a supplement. At the same time mothers should not take advantage of the product and rely on it, depriving their babies from natural milk. Cooperation should be from both sides to reduce consumption and production of baby milk, saving the child from malnutrition, and alleviating pressure of production on farmers. In addition, companies are obliged to save resources and not abuse using them as well
