Name of the Organization
The organization that I will be discussing is Apple, and specifically its iPod products.
Apple was incorporated in the state of California on January 3, 1977. The Corporation has many stores throughout the world, and its corporate offices are at Apple Computer, Inc. 1 Infinite Loop Cupertino, CA 95014.
Mission Statement
Apple’s Mission Statement is that,
Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone.
Apple Products
In order to understand the various iPod products out there, it is necessary to review all of the Apple products and to what degree they relate to and integrate with each other.
Apple’s product line is incorporated to a large degree in its Mission Statement. They have an extensive line of computers, both desktop and laptop, under the Mac name brand. Their desktop, iMac, revolutionized the industry by incorporating the tower into the monitor to minimize space. The laptops were known for their large screen size, all the while maintaining minimal weight and thickness as well as a large assortment of hardware and speed. Their newest product is the iBook Air, which it touts as the thinnest and lightest laptop on the market.
Apple also produced a line of digital media gadgets as an alternative or replacement to compact disks. The iPod allows the storing of hundreds of songs and videos, as well as a way of

connecting the device to various sound systems. The players allow music, videos, and movies to be accessed through multiple search features, and its innovative control surfaces range from scrolling wheel pads to touch screens. The iPod line, along with the iTunes software, allows for search, purchase, and storage capabilities in a virtually seamless medium.
Apple furthered their media and personal devices products with the iPhone. The iPhone incorporates the functions of cellular phone, iPod, and personal digital assistant and joins them with touch screen and Bluetooth technologies.
Apple also has a series of software programs and operating systems that facilitate and connect their various hardware products. Other than the iTunes software, Apple produced iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band as part of their Mac OS X software suite, catering to the artists and musicians. Part of this suite includes Safari, Apple’s Internet browser, which is supposedly the fastest and most streamlined web application. All of this is run off of the Leopard operating system, and Apple aims to improve on its highly regarding OS’s with the soon to be released Panther.
iPod Products
The iPod shuffle is Apple’s lower end media player. It comes in a small case with no video screen, and as with the other iPod products, the cases come in multiple colors. The memory is 1GB standard, which holds nearly 300 songs. The small size is marketed as a benefit, along with the low price that the lack of amenities allows, normally $80.
Apple’s iPod nano is the intermediate product, ranging in price from $150-$200. It comes in a 4GB and 8GB model, featuring a video screen and a few different colors.
iPod 4
The iPod classic is the original product. It boasts up to 160GB of memory, which equates to about 40,000 songs. It has a large screen size for its small frame, and also comes in multiple colors and themes. At $250, it has and will continue to be a higher end product.
iPod touch is the newest media device to hit the market. It was released after the iPhone, and utilizes the same touch screen technology. The touch screen
