Bad Habits are hard to Break
People, who smoke cigarettes usually start at a young age, some don’t. Most are influenced by his/her parents, family members, or just being around multiple people that smoke. Smoking is probably one of the hardest habits to break. I started smoking at age ten and have been smoking since. It started off as just something I thought I would do, because everyone else around me was doing it. Both of my parents smoke and most of my family does as well. Later on down the road it became more than just an addiction to me, it was something I had to have, and going a day without a cigarette was the hardest for me. After ten years of smoking, I finally made the decision to give it up, and save my health before it became too late. To quit smoking you have to go through a lengthy process, and through rough times, but in the end it’s all worth it.

First of all, I would suggest you go through everything that you would keep cigarettes in, like your car, purse, gym bags, drawers, and anywhere in your room. Get rid of every last one, and don’t buy any more. Go to the store immediately and buy a brand of quit-smoking patch that suits your situation. I used a three step one and it worked wonderful. Some people need more than three steps, so I would suggest you read the back of the box for details on what suits you. With the three step patches I bought, you put one on and change it daily. You should also buy plenty of gum; mint flavored, bubble gum flavored, cinnamon, or any flavor that you choose. Chew a piece of gum when you feel the desire for a cigarette. Make sure to keep the patch on all of the time, minus taking a shower. I would take a shower in the morning that way after your shower you can put on a new one and start the day off fresh. Just make sure you change it daily. If not, you won’t get the correct dosage of nicotine that it puts off.

After a month on step one, you should buy the second step of the quit-smoking patch that you’ve chosen. Make sure not to buy a different brand, because each brand has different levels of nicotine that it releases, and it’s not good to mix two brands. Continue to change the patch daily. Make sure you keep stocked up on gum, that way if the urge comes around still, you will always have gum on you, and won’t be tempted to smoke a cigarette. Hanging around people that smoke is most likely going to make you sick. Your senses will become heightened, and you’ll be able to smell how bad cigarette smoke actually smells, along with other things.

After the second month, and when you finish the second step of the quit-smoking
