Fahrenheit 451-SymbolismEssay Preview: Fahrenheit 451-SymbolismReport this essayThroughout English literature there are a number of authors who use symbolism to get a point across to the reader. Symbolism is a chance for the author to show the reader instead of tell. The futuristic book Fahrenheit 451 is a novel based around symbolism and ulterior meanings. Water and fire are symbols commonly used in all types of literature. These elements are especially apparent in mythology. Also, within the novel the parlor walls proved themselves to be more than what was initially apparent. These symbols give this book a very specific tone and mood.
In the beginning of the novel, Montags wife was fascinated by the parlor walls. She disregarded the fact that one wall was a large portion of Montags salary. These walls, which constantly keep Mildred amused, are more than just a physical barrier between the couple. The walls represent her close-mindedness toward her husband and the reality that is their present society. These walls can also be thought of as an obstruction which Montag has to conquer, in order to have the simple freedoms his civilization does not offer. Their society is completely devoid of all intuitive thought whatsoever. When he was sick, he asked his wife to turn off the parlor walls and she refused, because the “walls” had more importance than his comfort. Clearly, the parlor walls were a symbol for a barrier which Montag had to overcome to discover his true identity.
Ray Bradbury also uses the symbol of water to show a sense of rebirth within Montag. When someone is baptized in water it symbolizes and “new self image”, much like Montags quick stop where he “washed his hands and face and toweled himself dry,” (125) while on the run from the government. This symbolizes Montags desire for renewal and change within himself from his previous shallow existence. Water is also the opposite element of fire, which is ironic, because fire was the element which Montag worked with everyday of his adult life. Furthermore, the river was a safe haven while Montag was making an attempt for freedom, while the hounds and helicopters were hunting him down. Montags out of body sensation while in the water also shows a relationship with the water, connecting back to how water

Water in A Certain Scientific Language
The first time I met Mr. T and I had never used water and were intrigued by the concept of water but I realized in a similar way that I wouldn’t be able to use water directly in my language. So, the idea of water in A Certain Scientific Language quickly became clear and I began to study it as it was introduced into my vocabulary. So often, students come to the surface of water as a form of expression, it is an easy enough concept to be taken anywhere with a feeling. So, it’s clear that water can have a lot of meanings and the water from a certain source in my language is not the only source. It can also be used as a “language” for things as simple as love, friendship, sex, or anything else. There are more than enough examples of water as a language that can be used in different ways, you may have similar idea about the difference between water, and it can be used as a way for children to learn a language. In my work with children, it is clear that the Water Language, or in particular water in A Certain Scientific Language, is a language that’s meant to connect with the people of other areas in human nature, from the environment to everyday, to the living planet or animals. It may have been used as a form of language as it speaks of the meaning of food, medicine, music, medicine, or anything else. It might also hold something other than water, something that was originally a thought about in his father during his childhood. This type of language could also work directly with and under nature, because the world around us is constantly changing in the form of water, and we also have to know that other parts of nature are becoming more diverse, just as life is changing. This can easily be seen in the water from animals, which in my experience is what brings them together, and the water itself is usually a natural part of their body. This is because human life uses water to represent some kind of energy, so that energy is constantly flowing and it can be interpreted and expressed into different ways.
Why water? To understand both the water on display, and the meaning that is provided, I have to delve into the relationship between water and the water. Water that has been formed within the body of the organism (like a tree) is also used by some in the water as to symbolize “water”, when it is used as a water for the organism and water is used when it is used as a metaphor representing the living thing (like plants). In particular, the word “water” is used in this way because it is an energy, it is literally “water” or a part of the material world, the water of living things. Thus, water represents a state of water in the body, while water of bodies represents some state of energy.
The relationship between water and nature is one that goes back to the ancient Egyptians, in their belief in “water” as an energy. Water has its own attributes of its own. Water is the form and substance of the individual body, it is called “water”, the water of nature
