Heroes in the ClassroomEssay Preview: Heroes in the ClassroomReport this essayTechnology is all around us. People in the United States feel like they have to get the latest iPods, iPhones or laptops to be connected in society and the world. The latest technology often exists in the modern classroom. Many of these schools, often in wealthy areas have televisions, computer labs, touch boards, and even laptops for all students to use for educational purposes. School administrators believe that the latest technological innovations lead to greater test scores and a better education system. This paper explores a very simple question. Is it possible for high school general education teachers to improve student academic performance without new technology? To answer quite simply, my answer to this question is yes! “Education is a teacher-driven business” (Hanford).

In 2010, there were more high school students enrolled in school than in the last eight years. “In its 2010 US Statistics report, students in grades 9 to 12 number at 16.3 million.” (Number of High School) All of these kids are ready to learn. However, in order for a student to learn, they have to have a safe environment such as a classroom. In addition, in order to learn, the student must have a good teacher that interacts with the students, and provides a nurturing, supportive environment as a basis for academic success. This interaction between the student and teacher is critical to promote an environment that encourages free thinking, positive response, and open dialogue and discussion of ideas. With safe classrooms, and teachers that promote such discussion in their class, it can be carried over throughout the school day and school year.

[quote=Stigard]As a family I feel strongly of supporting young people who are growing up in difficult environments, such as families with mental and substance health problems in schools.

I also feel strongly that parents like to let their children learn for free, and that being free will have consequences for such children, so that a healthy, healthy child could be raised in a well-functioning, caring environment. In other words, we would need parents to be especially attentive to their young children, a very important role in many situations.

[quote=David G. Gage]While many have expressed concerns that the “free speech” laws and school funding decisions do not protect students who may be harmed by their ideas, and/or if the idea of an anti-Semitic hate crime is ever used to pressure school principals into protecting their religious beliefs, some of these school administrators seem to simply give their students the wrong message and ignore the “free speech” law.

The First Amendment should be used to protect the values created by the First amendment to advance a well-rounded student body.
