Science of Harry PotterEssay Preview: Science of Harry PotterReport this essayThe critically acclaimed science journalist Roger Highfield wrote the book The Science of Harry Potter to attempt to delve into the scientific aspects that exist in phenomenon of the Harry Potter world. Included in the book are interviews with some of the worlds best scientists to try and identify the explanations behind the many adventures that take place throughout the numerous Harry Potter series. Highfield explores the fascinating links between magic and science through these experiments, observations, and interviews.
Highland discusses things like the anatomy of fluffy the three-headed dogs, how the discovery of cosmic âgravity-shielding effectsâ can unlock the secret to the Nimbus 2000 broomsticks ability to fly. He explores whether griffin the dinosaur is actually a âProtoceratops.â Other topics include question like if the biggest object lifted by Muggles is a frog at the Nijmegen High Field Magnet Laboratory, then is there no reason why the grounds of Hogwarts should not be riddled with super strong magnets?
In one chapter, Highland talks about the sorting hat, which is able to read the mind of Hogwarts new pupils and assigns them to a house. To try and explain how this works, the author talks about how Scientists have already developed whats called a âSuperconducting Quantum Interference Device â(SQUID). SQUID could potentially be â arranged in a hat formation and placed on a persons head, where they can detect the tiny magnetic fields generated by electric currents jumping between brain cells.â Scientists who spoke to Highfield claimed they have had only limited success in translating these magnetic signals into thoughts, but clearly is a possibility to be improved or even perfected in the future.

However, the future of this new invention is also not yet decided. Many important inventions are already within the domain of science, and we need to keep in mind that the future is extremely interesting!

Superconducting quantum interference devices (SSDs) are âspecial casesâ, the technique uses an electromagnetic field to cause the quantum signals to travel across an existing magnetic field instead. As we continue our current study in Superconducting Quantum Infiniptions, it is crucial that the future of the technology is brought into perspective. As the next step in Quantum Computing and Superconducting Quantum Infinites, we believe that superconducting quantum interference devices are an outstanding field, and are already in the early stages of applications. We are already working with the Japanese consortium on a research institute that uses the same research methodology as the US-funded Quantum Communications Laboratory to develop a next generation super-conducting technology.

We have also witnessed the amazing achievements (like the âSwan Lakeâ) of our colleague Prof. Mihai Sae-won. He uses special research materials to create a superconducting superconducting device based on the materials from the Hawaii Project and the Japanese consortiumâs own work, and continues to test and demonstrate his superconducting technology.
