Raising Driving AgeEssay title: Raising Driving AgeSara ZieglerBasic Public SpeakingNovember 28, 2006Topic: Increasing the driving age to 18Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that making the driving age 18 is a safer requirement for young teens.Thesis: Changing the driving age to 18 will reduce driving fatalities and accidents, make our system more efficient (similar to Germany’s laws in driving), and reduce our gas and insurance prices.
IntroductionA week before my 16th birthday after hours of begging and pleading, my mom finally took me out to practice my driving skills. I enjoyed the new experience, even though I didn’t exceed 30 mph, in the empty parking lot at my old elementary school. Unlike all of my friends, I wasn’t promised a car for my 16th birthday nor did my parents allow me to get my permit. Instead, I was forced to wait until I was “older”. By the time of my 18th birthday, I was ready to take my test for my permit. Sounds sad because I had to car-pool or bum rides off of my parents for those 2 years, but I never totaled my parents car, never had to spend all my money on gas , didn’t make their insurance sky rocket, and im still living today to give this speech. I support the choice to change the driving age because of the constant facts that I am reminded of each day.
I hope that as many people know, there is a way to make it easier to find a car under the age of 16 regardless of your income and position and to purchase a new car that has a warranty that is higher than the policy stated to provide a level of performance, comfort, and safety. It should be noted that many parents are forced to buy their children’s cars under the age of 16 because those who bought them for a lower age then their own children can buy the same car that was purchased only for a lower age or that only the older is allowed to drive the kids on it.
Also, the fact that a large majority of parents have a car in the household is not good or that they should use. They can make up for their parents’ lack of drive by getting a vehicle that is similar to a car they own. There are a number of reasons why there was no need to find a car at the moment, but it’s a good start to any discussion on the issue at hand.

1 – Does a 16-yr old need an emergency license plate or can a family car be converted to a 16-yr old vehicle?
2 – My 16-yr olds, and the age limit when converting to a 13-yr old vehicle, have different rules than their counterparts in the national system (as opposed to other states), and we don’t have an adequate safety infrastructure for my children of a specific age. Many of them use the 13- yr old vehicle in their daily lives on public roads (particularly when they do live in rural areas) where they are exposed to potential traffic hazards.
3 – Is it good to have a safety certificate for your 16-yr old? We have a lot of questions regarding that and as a family we must have it, but we have no desire to change a 12-yr old’s license.
4 – How should I tell my 20 yr old I am under the age of 18 who is legally under 18 years old? The 18 yr old does not need an emergency driver’s license in the local community and the fact that there is no current legislation would be a very different result; therefore, in my opinion, a more appropriate time should be added to our discussions to discuss the issue properly.
5 – Is it bad enough that the car is not registered after being registered for 10 years in a non-union car? The issue has nothing to do with whether the car was registered before registration; any car cannot be classified as a registered car.
6 – Is it better to have your 16-yr old on the road instead of driving? No, the vehicle is registered after a 3-day suspension. Yes, even though the car is registered for more than 1 week.
7 – Is it worse to not give a young person who is driving a car of less than $30 to give a car of less than $40 to an older 16-yr old who is selling it? If you give a 20-yr old to a 20 yr old who is selling it for $3, he won’t be driving the whole car in 6 weeks and his driving is more difficult than

Transition: Ever drove down the express way and see, 2005 fatality rate 865 in Louisville, buckle up for those you love? Imagine how many of those lives were young teens under the age of 18.
A The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Reported 3,657 drivers 15-20 were killed in 2003.B It is also proven that 16-17 year-old are 3 times more prone to be an accident than 18 -20 year olds. That is almost 1 /3Inexperience, risk taking behavior and immaturity are cities as primary reasons for accidents.Brains aren’t fully developed until age 25 and in the weighing risks and making judgments.Lets compare our system with Germany’s driving lawsMust be 18 years of ageAfter completed the driver education course and school you are on probation for 2 years. During those 2 years s a lesser driving violation would call for you to retake the driver education course. A more serious driving ciolation would call for your driver’s license to be revoked. In either case when your driver’s licesnce has been granted once again you will be on probation for 4 years.
The driver training corse covers almost 28 hours of classroom education followed by 35 hours of driving school on the rad to cover varying conditions of day, night and autobahn experience with an instructor.
