For the study of altruism was defined a willingness to sacrifice for the good of other. The important of research of the positive aspects of the mans character is obvious. Behavioral observation is defined as behaviour that benefits another person or has positive social consequences (Staub 1978). This definition is often considered too vague, because although it discusses the outcome of the behaviour, it does not consider the motivation of the behaviour. is behaviour that intentionally helps or benefits another person. In other words, it is planned with the goal of “making a difference”. Altruism is when one helps another person for no reward, and even at some cost to oneself. A confederate is an actor that is part of the experiment and they will know the aim of the study.(Zimbardos 1989)

The experimenters are curious aboutthe “willingness” social dynamic. This experiment will give us an idea that can lead to a conclusion of how a single individual can affect the social dynamic of a whole group in terms of willingness to help other individual stranger. Will this group of individuals help the stranger that asks for help? What if they knew something about the individual?
