The long summer hiatus ended, the impregnate silence of corridors and classrooms was broken, the sullen atmosphere replaced with a babble of excitement and the lone paths traversed yet again. After being all gung ho about their annual university results,the 2nd years began their new term with unbridled passion and utmost confidence. The 2nd year English course provides an option between two very interesting papers to its students –Classical Literature paper and Popular Fiction paper. The prior deals with an in depth study of the masterpiece Homer and other Greek plays as well as, romances the Indian epic Mahabharat and Kalidasabhijanasakuntalam. The Popular Fiction Paper, on the other hand, presents an incorporation of the widely popular novels such as The Foundation by Assimov ,Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll ,The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie, From Russia With Love by Ian Fleming and Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. The seemingly easy choice turned into the classic Hamlet dilema for the 2nd years! This dilemma took an unprecedented turn when most students picked one over the other. Well as they say desperate times calls for desperate measures, the teachers after much appraising of the unanimous choice of the students, addressed them and their issues with both the papers. To aid us further, few students from the 3rd year spoke to the 2nd years and gave them a detailed briefing of the subject content for both the papers.
