Not my paper. When I began reading about the “scholarship boy” I kind of got lost because I wasn’t sure where the story was going. Towards the middle I caught up and started to understand. I did not like the man writing it because of some of the things he had said about his parents. I felt like he was ungrateful for his parents, it could have been worse for him. I’m sure there was reasoning behind it but I just could not relate to him. All through out the story people say to him,” Your parents must be very proud of you.” I felt as though his parents were very proud of him like they say but he almost wouldn’t allow them to be. He would never tell them of the awards he received at school; basically he had no relationship with them. I kind of got the feeling that they were not used to the new language and way of living. They were very uneducated, but always teased their son of reading constantly. The boy says in the story,” I was not proud of my mother and father. I was embarrassed by their lack of education.” This really bothered me. I almost wanted to reach into the paper and strangle him. How on earth could you not be proud of your parents? I don’t care what my parents did with their lives- I would support them no matter what. They are my blood, my life and my family. If you don’t support your parents then
